Midnight Alice sat up with a gasp. She was breathing heavily and it took her a moment of blind panic to untangle herself from her sheets. Rolling heavily out of bed and landing solidly on her butt, Alice fought her ADHD urging her to run for her sword and fight back whatever it was that had scared her so badly. Forcing herself to just sit next to her bed for a moment, Alice's brilliant blue eyes automatically located Dean. Half asleep and terrified by something she couldn't remember, Alice fought the illogical urge to crawl into bed with him. The thought scared her even more then she already had been and Alice bolted to her feet. Suddenly she felt claustrophobic in the small cabin and acutely aware of Dean's breathing. Peeling of the sweat-soaked sweatshirt she'd fallen asleep in and throwing on the first t-shirt that came to hand over her sports bra, Alice almost sprinted out the door. There was a curfew after eleven at camp, a fact that she remembered almost as soon as she was out the door. But Alice was a night owl, and she had experience in the art of dodging the night guards, namely harpies. Sneaking from shadow to shadow and keeping her ears perked, Alice just started walking. For some reason the she found herself moving towards the lake, which was weird because Alice didn't like the lake. Like all children of Zeus being in lots of water gave her the distinct feeling of being electrocuted, also it made her hair stand on end. But five minutes later the lake was were she found herself. Making a risky dash across the dark, exposed beach, Alice headed for the small grove of trees that pushed up against the water. Grabbing the first branch that was the right hight, Alice pulled herself easily into the lower branches of the tree and pulled her feet up behind her. Habitually she held perfectly still for a moment, listening hard for any sign that someone had heard her, then relaxed. Perched carefully in the tree, Alice wrapped her arms around her knees and bit her lip until she tasted blood. The nightmare kept playing inside her mind, but she couldn't actually remember what it had been. Illogical tears started rolling down her face and Alice cussed softly. She was a daughter of Zeus, and not a whole lot scared her. Usually when she thought it through enough she could make anything not scary, but not when she couldn't remember what the hell it had been. Alice was about to use the hem of the t-shirt she'd thrown on to wipe her face when she realized that it wasn't hers. It was Deans. Giving an exasperated sigh, Alice leaned back, purposefully hitting her head on the tree trunk. ooc- sorry, not very good. Long though... Three hours of sleep does that apparently.

Dean wasn't a light sleeper, but he wasn't a heavy one either. His eyes started to flicker as he heard something fall on the floor and the obvious sounds of panic. He turned in his bed to locate the noise but then heard the door open and someone darting outside. "Alice?" Dean muttered in confusion before seeing the time. "Ah crap." Dean cursed silently before bolting off of his bunk. He was the head of the cabin, he had to look after them, though them now meant Alice.
He slept in an old pair of black denim shorts and a white T-shirt, so all he needed was shoes. Dean wasted no time in grabbing his sword, in lighter mode and soon headed out the door. He catch some glimpses of the fleeing Alice and silently followed. Dean knew the camp like the back of his hand, so he had no idea why he was headed to the lake of all places. He saw her climb into a tree and slowed down his pursuit. "Alice?" Dean greeted as he came up by the tree. "Mind if I ask what your doing?" Dean asked as he looked slightly up at her, his hands resting in his pockets.

Head still ringing slightly from hitting the tree, and sort of occupied with trying not to cry, Alice didn't hear Dean until he spoke. She yelped, loosing her ballence for a moment and setting her heart pounding again. After getting her seat back, Alice finally looked down at him. Her electric-blue eyes were rimmed with red, but at least she'd finally stopped crying. Usually these days the sight of Dean made her head swim with lots of mixed emotions. Right now, she was just glad that her best friend was here. Rubbing her face with the back of her arm, Alice shrugged. "Don't know... bad dream I guess."
After a couple moments Alice slipped neatly out of the tree, landing gingerly in her bare feet. She slid down the trunk of the tree until she was sitting at it's trunk, legs out in front of her. It was a cold night, not helped by the breeze coming off the lake and Alice wished she was wearing more then shorts and Dean's shirt. She rubbed her arms absently, squinting up at him. "Sorry I woke you up.

"Sorry, guess I spooked you." Dean apoligized sheepishly after Alice regained her balance. Though Dean had just waken up, already he was beginning to get over the sleepyness and revert to his awake self. He wasn't sure if he'd be able to easily get to sleep again or not, but he decided not to say that. The last thing he wanted to do was make Alice feel bad, after all that's how friends are. "Bad dream? Any idea what it was about?" Dean asked calmly with an arched eyebrow.
Through the night he was able to make out signs that she had been in distress. Being jumpy was one, two she was trying not to cry, and three he was out by the lake at freaking midnight. "Nah, don't worry bout it, I'll just repay the favor one day." Dean chuckled as he leaned his back against the same tree trunk. "Cold?" Dean asked as he held up a hoodie he had grabbed at the last second. Alice had been at the camp seven years, so Dean's known her quite a while and considered her a friend. So he had no problem checking to make sure he was okay, or looking out for her.

Alice shrugged, leaning forwards and resting her head on her knees. Closing her eyes, she tried again to remember what it had been... but she couldn't. "I don't know." She whispered hoarsly. "I can't remember. I just woke up scared." She but her lip, turning her head slightly to look at him. "You know how I used to have nightmares every night about my old life? It feels like that, but I don't remember anything..." She shivered again.
She laughed weakly, nodding slowly. "Yeah, don't worry. Some day I'll have to chase you into camp at freaking midnight. It'll be good." She accepted the offered sweatshirt eagerly and pulled it over her head and knees. With a loud sigh Alice back and rested her head on the tree, looking up at the stars filtering through the tree branches. "Stupid past." 00c- okay, maybe not right away... done now.
